Théodore Hersart de la Villemarqué, the collector
Théodore Hersart de la Villemarqué began his collection of folk songs by the repertoire of poems sung by the peasants of Nizon and the surrounding area. Before him, his mother, the Good Lady of Nizon, Ursule Faydau de Vaugien, Dame de Plessis-Nizon, had been interested in it to the point of being able to probably his son in his first collections. Their informants, heirs of a long tradition, these "passers-by memory" according to the happy expression that designates them, bear family names familiar to our ears:

- Marie, wife of P. Naviner - Le Haut-Bois, 1804-1877.
- Yves Péron - Lustumini, 1792-1868.
- Anaïc Le Breton - Kerigasul, 1759-1839.
- Hélène Olivier (wife Morvan) - Le Plessix, 1794-1869.
