Kenneth (Ken) Savitt, of Nanuet, passed away on November 5, 2015, at the age of 92. Ken was born June 4, 1923 to the late Saul and Dora Savitzky. He grew up in the Poughkeepsie, NY along with his brother Abe. He enlisted in the Army during WWII andserved in the Weather Service, an arm of the Army Air Corp. After his discharge, Ken went to Syracuse University under the G.I. bill, where he graduated in 1950 with a chemical engineering degree. He married Elsie Rosenfeld in 1954 and moved to NewMilford, New Jersey, where their two daughters, Susan and Nancy were born. In 1960 the family moved to Nanuet, New York, and joined the Nanuet Hebrew Center where Ken was an active member in the Men's Club and served as President one year. He lateralso joined the Nanuet chapter of the JWV (Jewish War Veterans). He is known for cooking breakfast - usually LEOs (scrambled eggs with lox and onions) for both groups for their Sunday morning meetings at the temple. Ken was a genuinely nice man,sweet-natured and kind with a "punny" sense of humor and a silent laugh that was infectious. He loved reading, especially murder-mysteries, doing the Sunday Times cross-word puzzles (in collaboration with Nancy), and most importantly his family. We were blessed having him in our lives. Ken is survived by his two cherished daughters Nancy (Bill), Susan (Dan), his adored granddaughters Jenna (Eldon) and Sarina, and his precious great-granddaughter Amiyah Jean Miller. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 12 PM at Nanuet Hebrew Center, 411 S Little Tor Rd., New City, New York 10956. Memorial contributions in Ken's memory may be made to Nanuet Hebrew Center. Shiva will be observed Monday, at the Savitt residence, 12 ParkLane, Nanuet, NY 10954 on Monday following interment as well as Tuesday through Thursday, with Minyan Monday through Thursday at 7:45PM\
